General project description

The project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Active Mass Damper system installed on the roof section in reducing the tower’s oscillations when subjected to strong wind loads.

Starting from an initial peak acceleration of 0.58 m/s² under project wind conditions with a 200-year time frame – a value obtained through wind tunnel testing of a scale model of the structure – the use of four AMDs ensures an acceleration level in the cabin of less than 0.08 m/s² RMS.

This ensures comfort in structure intended for work purposes, such as the control tower cabin, in accordance with standard CNR-DT-207-R1-2018.
