Originating from a research project at the Politecnico di Milano, ISAAC is an Italian company specialising in the development of smart technologies for seismic protection and active vibration control in buildings and infrastructure.
ISAAC has patented advanced Active Mass Damper (AMD) systems designed for the seismic retrofitting and improvement of existing buildings. The technology combines smart accelerometric sensors and modular electric motors installed at the top of the building: by detecting oscillations in real time, the devices move in opposite phases to generate counteracting forces that dampen seismic vibrations, thereby enhancing the structural stability, safety and operational continuity of the building without the need for invasive building work.
